New Minimum Wages Order effective 1 May 2022; employers with less than 5 employees exempted

The commonly-predicted Least Wages Purchase 2022 (“the Order”) was gazetted on 27 April 2022. The Get, pursuant to part 23 of the Countrywide Wages Consultative Council Act 2011, raises the minimal wage nationwide to RM1,500 from 1 Might 2022. There is a short-term exemption right until 31 December 2022 from the increase for employers with a lot less than five staff members.

New minimum amount wage from 1 May 2022

From 1 May perhaps 2022, the monthly minimum amount wage will be elevated to RM1,500 nationwide. The Order also supplies minimal wage prices for workers compensated on a every day or hourly basis, as set out in this table:

Temporary exemption for employers with significantly less than 5 workforce

There is a short-term exemption until 31 December 2022 for businesses with less than 5 staff. Having said that, this exemption does not implement to businesses who have out skilled pursuits (as labeled below the Malaysia Regular Classification of Occupations revealed by the Ministry of Human Sources), no matter of selection of staff members.

For exempted companies, the present minimum wage rates will keep on to apply, and the Order presents that from 1 January 2023 the new least wage premiums will use to all employers.
