Monica Hakimi’s scholarship draws on both of those doctrine and authorized principle to understand the operation of global legislation. She focuses on public worldwide law, the use of pressure, U.S. overseas relations law, human legal rights, and nationwide stability. She was just lately elected co-editor in chief of the American Journal of Intercontinental Legislation.
She was the Nathaniel Fensterstock Visiting Professor of Law at Columbia Law School during the 2022 spring semester and was appointed professor of legislation on July 1, 2022. She was formerly the James V. Campbell Professor of Regulation at the College of Michigan Law College, in which she was also the associate dean for school and study and the associate dean for academic programming. She has held traveling to appointments at Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, University of Tokyo, and Benjamin N. Cardozo College of Legislation.
Prior to entering the academy, Monica spent four several years as lawyer-adviser in the Business of the Legal Adviser in the U.S. Department of Point out she recommended policymakers on nuclear nonproliferation, attempts to reconstruct Iraq right away right after the 2003 war, international investment disputes, and worldwide civil aviation. Hakimi has also served as counsel ahead of the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal and worked on conditions right before the Worldwide Court of Justice and U.S. federal courts and businesses. She clerked for Judge Kimba M. Wood on the U.S. District Court docket for the Southern District of New York.
Hakimi’s scholarship has appeared in publications which include the American Journal of International Regulation, Michigan Law Overview, and Yale Journal of Intercontinental Legislation, between other folks.
