Former British PM Theresa May as Next NATO General Secretary?

Former British PM Theresa May as Next NATO General Secretary?

I know it may be highly sympathetic for British people to think of Mrs. May as a good candidate for the position as General Secretary of NATO.

She was respected by many as a good leader, but we should also remember that she was also regarded as somewhat doubtful especially when Brexit negotiations were extended far beyond reasonable due to confusion about terms that went back and forth between Brussels and London.

I See German Angela Merkel As a Much Stronger Candidate

Let’s face it: NATO is going to play a major role in the immediate future with new threats to global security. The former British PM Theresa May is no Margaret Thatcher. Her determination is not anyway near as solid as Mrs. Thatcher was in the eighties…

Personally, I see German Chancellor Angela Merkel as a much stronger candidate, and since she is in her final term by her own choice, she would make an excellent candidate for the position as General Secretary of NATO.

There is no doubt that Mrs. May has many talents, but I see her as fitting much better in an organization such as the UN. Her talents for long negotiations would fit much better in that framework.

What are your thoughts, dear readers, on this? Your comment would be welcome.

Wishing you all a good day. 🙂
